The role of the plastic surgeon is to help the patient establish realistic expectations of the final outcome, striving for improvement rather than perfection. The surgeon must also prepare you for all aspects of the procedure and inform you of potential risks or complications. Dr. Henry is committed to helping patients achieve their goals. She has the skill, expertise, and artistic eye necessary to help achieve optimal, beautiful results.

Featured Patient Results
Most patients are of average weight and desire permanent contour changes, although Dr. Henry's advanced techniques used in liposuction now allow her to safely remove larger amounts of fat and can be useful in treating heavier persons as well. First, small suction tubes (called cannulas) are inserted through very short incisions placed in inconspicuous locations near the fat deposits. Next, excess fat is essentially vacuumed out, leaving the treated area looking much more toned.
For patient safety and comfort, general anesthesia is usually used during liposuction at Dr. Henry's San Francisco Bay Area offices, and is performed on an outpatient basis. The patient goes home with a compression garment (or tape) covering the treated areas. Compression is advised for about a month after liposuction treatment, as it helps reduce swelling and speeds recovery. Pain and soreness usually subside within two to four weeks. Initial discomfort is controlled with oral medication and the final liposuction results take shape over 2-3 months.
Additional cosmetic surgery procedures that may enhance Dr. Henry's liposuction results at her San Francisco Bay Area centers are tummy tuck (abdominoplasty), breast reduction, breast lift, breast augmentation, thigh lift, or buttock lift.

An inner thigh lift procedure requires only short incisions extending from the anterior part of the thigh/groin crease around to the buttock crease. Performing an entire thigh or buttock lift requires much longer incisions that start in the buttock crease, and extend around the groin, up over the side of the abdomen, over the flank and across the back. Once the incisions are made, excess skin is lifted upward and removed. Dr. Henry is sensitive to the placement of the resulting scars from such cosmetic surgery procedures. As a result, Dr. Henry will discuss a wide variety of thigh and buttock lift incision placements available to meet personal or clothing needs.
The thigh or buttock lift procedure is performed under general anesthesia on an outpatient basis unless otherwise advised by the surgeon. After the thigh or buttock lift procedure is complete, the patient is placed in a compression garment to reduce swelling and assist in the natural tightening of the skin. While initial discomfort associated with smaller thigh or buttock lifts is easily controlled with prescription pain medication, larger thigh or buttock lifts may initially require one or two nights of care in a skilled nursing facility or hospital. Bruising and swelling, the most common side effects of thigh and buttock lifts usually subside within a month; strenuous activities may generally be resumed within six weeks.
Additional cosmetic surgery procedures that may enhance thigh or buttock lift results at Dr. Henry's San Francisco Bay Area centers include liposuction (or liposculpture), breast enlargement, and tummy tuck (abdominoplasty).

ABDOMINOPLASTY OR TUMMY TUCK
Abdominoplasty, commonly known as a ‘tummy tuck’ is a well known cosmetic procedure that deals with excess skin and fatty deposits on the abdominal area, creating a tighter, flatter and more defined stomach.
The mid-section is one of the areas of the body that most frequently comes up when discussing self-consciousness, image and physical hang ups. Weight loss; and particularly weight loss after pregnancy; can heighten feelings of abdominal inadequacy and for some people, diet and exercise alone have not been able to give them the results that they require. However in recent years an increasing number of people are choosing tummy tucks to improve their shape and boost their body confidence. Tummy tucks are also helpful in remedying diastasis, a condition that sees a vertical separation of the abdominal muscles, which most often occurs during or following a pregnancy. UPPER ARM LIFT
Upper arm lift procedure is usually done on an outpatient basis under general anesthesia. In order to remove excess skin, an incision is made on the inner arm that runs from near the top of the elbow into the armpit. Then, unwanted skin and fatty tissue are carefully removed to reveal slimmer, leaner arms.
After upper arm lift surgery, the arms are either wrapped or placed in an elastic sleeve to reduce swelling. Initial healing usually occurs within 10-14 days. Sutures are usually removed within the first two to three weeks. Swelling and bruising gradually disappear over three to four weeks of having upper arm lift. All swelling subsides within three to six months. The scars fade in 6-24 months, depending on skin type and resiliency.
An additional cosmetic surgery procedure that may enhance upper arm lift results is liposuction of the upper arm or armpits (axillae).
